I have bofa platinum checking account and they charged me a 20$ monthly fee and will not reverse it(it should be free because I hold a loan from them of over 15,000, stipulated in their rules) and I am thinking about switching to citibank, any bad things about them?

DEMAND written proof that they can charge the fee...

PROOF that you knew they would charge a fee at the time the checking account was opened...

but even so, I really don't want to stick with a company that is going to try to charge me stuff they swore they wouldn't, maybe I will try one more time to get it waived.

I bank with Citi. They're great and they have the free online bill pay. Also, their web site has a built in aggregator that pulls all of the info from your credit cards, insurance etc. and displays it all on one web page.

I've had citi checking for about five years. They have free online bill paying which I use all the time for all my bills. I don't even get charged for the stamp!
I have nothing but good things to say. Website is really easy as I check my balances just about daily.

I had a checking account for 10 years with a bank that got bought out by Citi. With my previous bank I had free checking with no minimum balance.

Citi told me too bad and wanted to charge me. They said my 10 years with previous bank doesn't mean anything to them so I closed the account.

I've been banking with Citibank for about 3 years and if you're into online management, they are tops! However, in order to avoid fees there are minimum balance requirements. This can easily be achieved by depositing the required amount and linking your accounts. Additonally, if you have loans or credit balances with them that fall within a specific range, that's also an alternative to avoid fees.

I have Advantage Checking (what they called in Texas) and I have to maintain $5000 in one regular checking to avoid $20 monthly service fee. By the way I don't have any loan with BA except credit cards. I got good rates with their credit cards because of having Advantage checking. The purchase rate od credit card is 9.9% fixed and they sent me 4.0% BT checks until paid off. I know they overcharge everything on their checking and savings including bad checks. Have you ever thought to switch to Washingtom Mutual Free checking? I have free checking with them and it is absolutely free with them.
