Let's Goooooooo Mountaineers!!!!!!!!!! Still have a shot at everything if we win out and some pieces fall into place.
Credit Monitoring Services to replace TC Ever since I got kicked out of TC, I've been looking for a replacement so I would still be able to monitor progress. I found that National City uses True Credit, but I was still able to set up an account even though True Credit has blocked me. They're at ncidentityprotect.com. It's $9.95 per month, or you can pay $14.95/mo and track two SS#'s (Theoretically you and your spouse). I apologize that I didn't write down the code, but you will probably be able to google it. The way it works is you sign up for the service, and they email you in 3 days if you're approved (I was). It's kind of a pain to wait, but TC won't let me back in directly, so I've got limited choices. Apparently, there are similar services offered through Chase, Amex, and others. Several of them resell True Credit, but apparently you can sign up through them without being limited by TC's treatment of you. I've heard of people signing up for more than one of the different resellers. I wouldn't dare discuss why they might do that... If anyone has info on the other credit monitoring services, they might want to post them here so we can use them if TC has kicked us off. We all deserve an opportunity to monitor our own credit. Thankfully the free market still works. [Apex - just watching the 'eers put another TD on the board vs Louisville! They'll need to win big to ensure their standings, and they're off to a good start - it's the end of the 1st qtr. GO MOUNTAINEERS!]
File with the BBB! Well, I was a little ticked with this whole situation, so I decided to file a complaint against Truecredit with the BBB. Turns out, hundreds of others have done it already (838, to be exact---with a "D" rating from BBB) If you have been kicked out, file a complaint for false advertising, it only takes a second, and may open their eyes. Here's my complaint: Complaint Classification: Ad Practices Complaint Description - Posted 11-5-2007 I ordered true credit's service in hope of cleaning up my credit report. Just recently they canceled my service permanently because I accessed my credit report "too much" When you sign up for their service, they claim, and I quote "Unlimited access to all three of your credit reports and credit scores." They then state in their service agreement, "With respect to products that include access to new credit reports at your discretion, there is a limit of one new credit report every 24 hours." No where in their service agreement does it state, your account will be canceled if you access your report too much. This is the email I received from them stating my account was canceled: "You recently contacted our customer service department in regard to our notification that your True Credit membership and billing was being frozen due to excessive access to your account. As our customer service team communicated, our compliance department has reviewed your account in order to see if you qualified for reinstatement. After a thorough investigation, it is our conclusion that your account should not be reinstated due to an access pattern which indicates potential fraud or a deliberate intent to tamper with the credit scoring system. Your access, billing and all account related email alerts have now permanently been terminated as a result. " Complaint Summary Company states unlimited credit reports, but cancel accounts for checking credit reports too often. ::HERE's THEIR response:: Our recent action was not to limit the amount of use of our products, but rather to discontinue doing business with anyone we believe may be attempting to tamper with the credit scoring system. Our actions were pursuant to our Service Agreement section (c) as follows: Term and Termination; Modification This Agreement will take effect at the time you click "I Accept," and shall terminate (a) when the member cancels his/her membership by contacting TrueCredit via the toll-free number set forth on the web site for cancellations, or (b) upon termination of your membership or (c) if TrueCredit discontinues providing any membership, subject to your right to receive membership benefits that you have paid for or to obtain a refund of a portion of your payment. A copy of the complete Service Agreement you agreed to when you enrolled can be found at http://www.truecredit.com/policy/serviceAgreement.jsp. Your account has been reviewed for a third time and whether you intended to do so or not, we have clear evidence that your credit usage and access patterns have caused unfounded credit improvements that make you ineligible for our services.
Exactly. Basically what they are saying is that "if you use our product to its full potential, we will ban you from our site and never let you in!"
I put my complaint in. We should just get together and do a class action law suit. We could print t-shirts and everything.
