They keep calling and leaving generic messages, their number shows up as 913-000-0000 on my caller id. And when I've tried to call back, they claim "we wont tell you who we are until you give us your social"

ya right..Im going to hand out my social security number to someone who wont even divulge their name.

    Could it be arrow financial?

    Section 806

    (6) Except as provided in section 804, the placement of telephone calls without meaningful disclosure of the caller's identity.

"I'm not giving a stranger my SS#, but when you do get around to identifying yourself, you will owe me at least $1000".

I'm willing to bet it is RMA, Risk Mgmt Alternatives.
They called me on an almost 7yr old chg off (due to fall off in July) last week. I guess they saw activity on our reports and decided to harrass. They wouldn't talk to me, just wanted my hubby's social. Of course, I refused. One week later, the account is sold to someone else. This is one that just won't go away! They are from S Carolina, I believe.

As far as I can determine RMA don't answer any letters demanding validation at all. None of my local people seem to have ever had them reply and they always have to take them to the wall in order to get them off their backs and credit reports.

RMA tried once to validate, told em it wasn't enough and haven't heard from them since. It is not on my reports.

For the most part we are unable to fathom why on earth collection agencies or other 3rd party collectors would continue to ignore such things as validation letters but the answers are really simple.

They work on a commission basis for the most part and it is currently easy for them to just ignore it for the simple reason that their past experience has been that the debtor will do nothing but bluster and threaten.

The only way that is going to change is for some of those who have filed multiple law suits to post "cookie cutter" lawsuits that just about anybody can file and take to court and as the results come in from those filings make whatever changes that need to be done whatever that may turn out to be.

The reason I say that is that the only way they will change what they do is far too dangerous for them to ignore they will continue to do just that.

it was RMA, and they had the wrong number/person.
hah go figure. I was all ready to get ruthless with them too :/
so, if you see a funky number like 913-000-0000, its RMA a'callin.
