Anyone use the Telezapper??

I"m seriously considering getting one since some days I get a call an hour. I just wish it cost less. Since I got caller Id, it's ridiculous how many "unknown caller" hits I get. Sometimes up to 10 a day. I usually don't answer, but sometimes I do and get that dead "silence" right before someone answers so I know it's telemarketing hits. Also it triggers my answering machine.

Just want to know if anyone's using it and if it really works.

I have a friend who uses it - he says it gets all of them but our local newspaper.

I have a unlisted #, and I hardly get any , so I have not bothered to buy one.

We use one. I noticed the calls were fewer after a while but not totally gone. I'm sure that some companies still don't use the computer dialing. The only thing that was a pain was initially the phone was still ringing but no one was there when we answered. Then I guess it worked at getting our number deleted because the calls were fewer and fewer.

I have a device called the callscreener. It works great.

I think there website is www.callmenot.com.

It uses several different strategies which are not included in the telezapper.

I've stopped quite a few in just a couple of weeks..

They can still program their computer to call your number even if it is unlisted.

Of course they can still randomly dial and get my number.

But since I get less than 1 telemarket call a month, I have to assume (in my area) they go from phonebook generated data.

Thanks Cbrock, I'll look into it. I've already found a lot of useful info off of that site.

Do you guys have Privacy Manager (or like service) available from your local telco?

I can't live without that service. It rejects 100% of unknown name, private, and out of area calls--my phone never rings. If I need to, I can setup access codes so "out of area" people can talk to me, but I don't know anyone who is out of area.

If you call from a private #, you get booted to the voice prompt that says, "This number does not accept unidentified callers. To temporarily unblock your number for this call, press 1; to leave a message, press 2."

It's like $5 a month and it cut out 100% of my telemarketing calls. Extremely convenient.

IF YOU HAVE CALLED ID---->DIAL TONE *77 BEEP BEEP DIAL TONE HANG UP~~~NO PRIVATE NAME/PHONE NUMBER

Won't get rid of OUT OF AREA...but it helps with the PRIVATE #'s

It should be included FREE with basic CALLED ID.
PM above also works...but you can also NOT ANSWER ALL OUT OF AREA CALLS and let the answering machine get it (LIKE MY WIFE DOES)

When we went home to CA for 2 weeks I reset the CALLER ID to ZERO and when we got back we had like 50 +/- calls and NO MESSAGES!!!

Probably 48 of the calls were OUT OF AREA...
