I didn't really want the APPLE LOC. I PFB'd MBNA. They called up and said that I can convert to a GOLD RESERVE and get access checks. Now what? Any hope in ever converting to a MASTERCARD??
Sam, They told me to convert LOC into a credit card and combined exsisting Platinium Plus card into Quantum. I didn't do it and I left Apple LOC alone for computer purchase and credit line access. Ron.
The "Tele Sales" dept will convert it for you. You have to know what kind of MC you want, though. Research their card products and then call them. I personally think the Gold Reserve loc is a MBNA BDD that you made famous with Citibank. http://consumers.creditnet.com/straighttalk/board/showthread.php?s=&pgnum=4&postid=140605#post140605
Yes. The rep told me two things: 1. Must apply for mastercard. 2. No inquiry to change Loan to Reserve. The next step, if this happens, would be to investigate switching to a MBNA preferred mastercard like the Gateway Moola card, or the Volkswagen Drivers Wanted card. It requires $5K or greater to have platinum plus, so for me Preferred would be the next choice. I will keep folks posted, if there is any success..
This whole MBNA conversion strategy is very interesting. I just called and they approved the conversion to Quantum. I'm sure I never would've been approved by applying directly for Quantum or even Platinum Plus. I had Experian CE of 664 w/ one write off and one account w/ several lates (1 late in the last year). Again, thank you marci. Quantum and AMEX Blue were my two credit goals for this year...half way there!
Yes, I was denied in a separate application for the Platinum Plus card that I submitted the same day that I applied for the loc. I was blown over when the loc guy was like "yeah, $10K is not a problem", considering my income. I don't have my denial reasons for the Plat Plus yet, but theyalso pulled Experian... ...which the loc analyst said was "below 663" when I asked him what my score was. I had two trades with two-four 30 day lates and I had two trades that were paid collections 6 years old. I had 3 inquiries, though. Well, let me assist you again, the way others have assisted me. Check out this thread. All of my relevant credit info is there. Although AmEx initially declined me for the Blue - I called back the day I was declined and got approved on reconsideration. Two days later I got a CL increase. The name of one of the supervisors of the MORE Team is Lynn - though she isn't the one who specifically helped me. Most of the MORE reps are nice, though there are a couple who are curt. If you get a bad MORE rep, politely hang up and call again. http://consumers.creditnet.com/stra...78&highlight="amex+green+approved"#post113878 I hope it works for you!
