Is it easier or should I say do you have a better chance of being approved for the CC online or in the store for Home Depot, Lowes, Best Buy, and Circuit City online or at the Retail Store?

We are closing tomorrow and we need to purchase a Washer and Dryer for our new home. Would we have a better chance of getting a higher credit limit online or in the store? Should we both apply on the same account or should just one apply and add the other on as an AU?

I applied for Lowes (issued by Monogram) at the store and got a $1100 limit (my highest limit). I don't even have a score since I just started my credit in June. Also For Circuit you can't apply online only in the store and it's not an easy card to get. And also Circuit does not sell washers and dryers anymore.
