Does anyone know if there are any pros or cons to having disputes pending with CRAs when applying for credit? There are some items on my report that aren't mine that I am going to dispute and I am wondering how I should time my dispute requests vs. my application for credit.
I have heard, and seen in my own FICO scores, that disputed TLs are ignored for scoring purposes. No guarantees, but you want to time it so they're looking in the first week after the dispute is received.
I know that disputing before applying works. Went to Wachovia yesterday for a car loan. I have an old charge off that I disputed last week. Since the Bank CSR is a friend, I took my EQ credit report for her to look at. After looking, she pulled my report from Wachovia and the CO wasn't showing on her report. I thought that was interesting because I had just pulled from EQ gold a few minutes before going to the bank.
