What I was wondering is if I should wait until my tax lien is released to apply for a credit line...specifically from dell? I would like to purchase a computer and am not sure if the lien would affect me being approved. My lien will be released after my last payment in June and I guess 30 days after that will be reported to the CRA's. Any advice will be helpful.

Dell is the devil. I never had anything but problems and issues with the tech reps, finance, customer support. Go for a Sony, they have financing as well.

I can't say anything about Dell, but follow up on the Release of your tax lien; they are not always diligent in their updates to CRAs.

Is your lien reported on all three CR's? If not, you might be able to get an account with Dell if they happen to pull the CRA without the lien showing.

No reason you cannot dispute the lien now, right? If the information is the least bit inaccurate, then dispute it with the CRA as inaccurate and take your chances. One never knows...

In general, it may be best to separate your financing from your purchasing. Main reason is that if you have a dispute with your seller, you don't want your lender in bed with him.

my lien is reported on all 3...the irs is sending me an updated letter to reflect that my balance is lower than what is being reported...not sure what good that will do since dell won't see that letter
