Just got approved for a Nextcard. I know it's not the best but I am currently carrying 2 Providians (APR of 23.99% each and the MC one has no grace) and a Cap 1 with a $1700 cl.

BK-13 is in the 5th year, 25 months to go for the drop-off.

Okay here is what I got.

$4000 cl with a BT intro rate of 9.99% must transfer $2000
    Grace of 25 days
    No annual Fee
    Some Nextcard reward program.

So what I have here is a CL that is higher than my Cap 1 and a APR that is lower than my Providian with a grace.

I am hoping to somehow to get Providian to lower my APR. Going to ditch the MC one on my 1 year anniversary if I do not get a grace and a lower APR.

I know Nextcard is sub-prime but I hope it's a step up from Providian and Cap 1.

    Best regards,

Just wait till they raise your interest to 22% like they have done to others. I dont recommend this car if you plan to carry a balance. Their practices and service level are mediocre to poor.

    Congrats Mirage!!

I got a Nextcard platinum card in April. I too had a BK. My apr. is 15.9% now that my 6.9% intro rate is over. It does not matter anyway as I don't carry a balance. I like the card but...

Inquire before you sign up for the rewards program. You may have to pay for it.

I never signed up for rewards or concierge.

I have contacted Nextcard twice about lowering my apr. I was told - No

Thanks for all the advice. I do not plan on carrying a balance past my bt teaser rate.

Going to do the PFB on Providian to get a lower APR.

I am going to give Nextcard about 25 months of life in which time my bk-13 will fall off.

Until than I have a no annual and another positive tradeline cc to the mix.

So NEXTCARD is providian. Or are they? I was going to apply, but not if it's them. Let me know. I need a card. But I don't want to take just anything. Any suggestions? I am going to go for Citi in about 2 more months

NEXT CARD IS NOT PROVIDIAN...but they BOTH do stupid things like give somebody with a F.I.C.O. of 741 (18.99%)...

So GEORGE, would it be a "DESPERADO" thing to do to try for a card with them? LOL!

George is right Providian in not Nextcard but the tactics can be the same.

My earlier message is to imply that since Providian is unwillingly of late to lower the APR (current normal rate is 23.99%), I am going to have to go the PFB route. Currently Providian is giving me a 9.99% rate for three months as a promo.

At this point I am happy with my Providian Gold as the CL is approaching the 7K mark (opened in 6/00). Just the APR sucks.

There is no doubt from George's experience that Nextcard is shifting it's cc business to a new low. Unlike George's credit power, I am dealing with a bk-13 so Nextcard is a big change for me.

Obtaining cards from Chase, MBNA and Citibank are not possible at this time. (Take that back - I am on Citibank's blacklist, so no Citi forever???).

    Congrats SAM.
Sounds like are on about the same credit track.

I got my Nextcard with a $2500 limit - no transfer.

They have been fine, but I am watching - I need their "prime" tradeline :)

Well, I applied. I got approved of course. But I got approved for a secured card. I guess that lets me know where my credit is. I sent a PFB letter to Mr. Hashman for a reconsideration for unsecured. I hope they tell me yes! We'll see.

Kitti 1: Actually this is my third attempt. The first two got me denials. Last attempt was 3/01. I think this time around was balance to debt ratio was close to 10% as oppose to almost 90% last March.

    Best regards,
