approach creditors or CRAs?

When you have very many items on the CRA reports to dispute (and some to negotiate), is it best to first approach the creditor or the CRA with a validation request?

Seems to me it must be the creditor, so as to not overload the CRA, but I can't find the answer to this anywhere.

It is best to contact the credit reporting agencies and dispute everything. However, do this in writing and by data field (account type, pay status, date of last activity, etc.). What remains, ask for validation from the debt collectors and verification from original creditors. In addition, go ahead and dispute the remaining items a second time through the credit reporting agencies.
