    Okay new news.

You can have 2 citi cards maximum.
But if one of your cards is a AAdvatange, you may have "3" cards.

I was declined for the GOLD AAdvantage due to the maximum # of cards.

I was Approved for AA Silver for $6K limit.

Remember folks, i combined/closed the gold AA 1 Month ago. I then applied for two AA's again this month.

This means: You can run them back to back.
10/00 AA Silver Approved -> converted to Plat.
08/01 AA Silver approved -> Converted to Div Plat
09/01 AA Gold Approved -> Combined with plat
    10/01 AA Silver Approved
10/01 AA Gold Declined - too many cards.

Remember to rinse and repeat as necessary.

Just curious. How much is your total credit limit with them now?

21K. I get between 4-6K per approval. Some folks get a lot more.

You may have 2 Citibank cards plus 1 AAdvantage.

An AAdvantage is a citibank card, there fore:

    1 citi +
    2 AA

    2 citi +
    1 AA

    3 AA

    I think that covers it!

What is your goal with CITI? You have to be doing this for a reason. Hey, good thing you are testing the waters cause you helped me get a CITI plat with 18000 limit! Keep pressing those buttons

Dang Sam! You are off the hook. I have an application for the Silver AA pending right now. Been calling to check the status. The good thing is that my credit score is ~50 points HIGHER than it was when I was originally approved for the 2 AA cards. So that's a good sign.

Just called to check the status. My application is STILL in review process.

What sort of scores and background are needed for the silver/gold deal?

My first AA was approved at 575 , then 620, then 652 then 634.

Citi uses their own scoring system, which i believe does not regard "old" negatives the same as fico. All of my derogs were from 96, very old.

I also recommend disputing all negatives before applying.

That being said, if you have recent issues, or BK, don't bother.

Seems like most people in 615-650 range get approvals, however, ymmv, as their scoring system is vastly different. Also keep in mind, when i applied for the 2nd-4th card, I used my first card as a reference which does carry weight. They do look over your first card.

Go apply for both the AA Silver and AA Gold at the same day. You'll get either Both or non, and one inquiry(www.millcbs.com).

None of my approvals were "instant". All 4 got the "We'll let you know message".

Try it you might like it :)

    Thanks for your input.

I just went to the Citibank.com site, but see no mention of an AA Silver card.

    Can someone provide the link?

    Much appreciated! :)

Sam, knowing what you know now, how would you handle my situation? I have a Dividend Platinum Select (9K limit) and an AA Platinum WorldCard (10K limit). I got these cards just over a couple of months ago.

Would you apply for an AA Gold or Silver now and leave my two existing cards alone? Or combine the existing cards first and then apply for a Gold/Silver?

I'd like to end up with 3 cards when all is said and done.

    Appreciate the input!

    Thanks for the link.

I recieved the "we'll send you the results" message.

Should I just go ahead and do the gold card application as well??

Combine, wait for closure on the combined card (1 month?)

Then apply for both silver and gold on the same day.

    You'll get both.

    Thanks, Sam!

Per your suggestion, I'll be combining my two cards today, waiting a month, and then applying for Gold and Silver.

I will let you know how it turns out.

Congratulations on your successes with Citi. You have truly blazed a trail for the rest of us. Your original suggestion to apply for the cards online resulted in my greatest credit victory to date - $19K in prime cards. I appreciate all of your help. Thank you.
