Approved for Amex Delta - now what?

I think there's some good karma on this board: about a month after I first posted here about getting a crummy credit line from B of A and no other CC offers, and after staying away from applying for an Amex b/c my last bad account item (late on a Capital One card from grad school) wasn't resolved until last fall, I was sent an application for the Delta Skymiles Amex, figured what the heck, applied, and was approved with a $2k limit! Woohoo!

Now, I've read various threads on this forum about transferring Amex accounts or opening up new cards once you're "in." How do I do this? I ask only because I don't ever fly Delta, have no reason to fly Delta, have a zillion AA miles, etc. - but would really, really love a Starwood card, as I would actually use those points. What's the process for this? It seems to have something to do with calling 1-800-THE-CARD and asking for "more", but not sure what "more" is or where I go from there. Do I ask for a CLI? Say that I want to apply for another card? I'm literally just unclear on the process. Also, I'm trying to establish my fiancee's credit, and would like to add her to my account.

And not to get too far ahead of myself, but a lot of threads here seem to be about how to get Amex Blue or Gold. Is there a reason these cards are better other than Amex Blue's lack of fees? The only purpose I can see for Gold would be to get to Platinum for membership benefits, but those seem a bit out of my reach.

    Thanks everybody!
