Applied for five different Amex cards this week. Since I have accumulated inquiries from car shopping I figured why not. I am in NJ. Amex EXCLUSIVELY pulled Experian for each request. My FAKO score is 688 and FICO based on Experian in the 710's. So far I have been approved for: Personal Cards -- Amex Delta Skymiles Gold (5,300 CL). Amex Blue (10,000 CL) Amex Cash Back (unknown CL but approved) Small Business Cards: Amex Blue (12,000 CL) Amex Cash Back (unknown CL) All of these inquiries haven't seem to lower my score one iota. Maybe I have so many that additional inquiries do not lower the score.
Wow very impressive week I am curious what type of small business you have?? I have gotten a few pre approvals for business accounts from Amex, I do side work aside from my FT job, but it's all under the table
There are no Derogs on my Experian report but my utilization is about 60% since not many of my credit lines seem to report there.
They didn't ask for any information about my business. I am an independent computer consultant. My company has two "employees"... my wife and I. We do have a corporation. I have to say I am impressed with AMEX. For each app they called and let me know I was approved and when the card should arrive. I got the sense that the OPEN systems and the personal card systems were separate and did not know about the concurrent applications. It seems the OPEN side of Amex has less strict underwriting requirements than do the personal lines. So, for your "small business" sign up and see. My FICO from Experian was about 710 no derogs.
Thanks. I looked at their application and it asked about business name, what type of service etc. I really don't use a "business name" so to speak, I just do side work for several people.
MARTIG4, I tried to email you so you could have my email for the car info. My email is on, please email me if you get a moment.
yeah definitely do both open and personal at the same time. you don't need anything to be a business. no license, no phone, no tin, nothing. declaring yourself one is good enough for law and good enough for amex.
martig4, I'm curious how you were able to get 3 personal cards approved in a week? I thought they have a policy of 1 new app every 90 days.
That is great could you give me a idea of what is your household income, mines is around 70,000 and Amex keep telling me No because I have to much credit from them I got a blue card for 15100 limit and a business charge card for 9,000 .
LKH, I applied for three different products on the website and all were approved. I'm not sure if its a "hole" in the system or if its actually a revised policy. I couldn't believe it myself. Can't wait to get all the mail from AMEX.
That is really weird. I applied on Aug 26th for the Optima, online. It didn't process it online, but did get the info. I called on the 27th and they said they got my app. Then I see they pulled a 2nd credit report on the 30th. They say that the online app came thru twice. I got the 1st card Saturday, but the other they say no no and have sent me a letter "requesting more info"? I hope you get them all.
Our HH income is > 200K. I thought these limits were lite, but on my EX report the big credit limits I had weren't reporting. After a bit I will ask for an increase.
On each card, AMEX called me at work to "verify" the information. They told me each card they were processing. I asked in each case if the card was approved and the reps told me yes, and if possible, the CL. According to the reps I spoke with, each line was approved. I will update the thread if/when the cards actually come.
