I was just sent via FedExp a arbitration from Chase Bank C/O Frederick J. Hanna (known bottom feeder) for a debt that I am not sure I owe.

In 11/08 I received a collection letter for a $3100 debt from Hanna for First USA- never had an acct with First, so sent a DV letter to Hanna and First USA (now Chase). Then received on 11/13 a letter from Chase saying "we appreciate the opportunity to respond to your request" with copies of statements from a CC with Countrywide. I did open the CC with Countrywide and had made payments for many months, but then never received another statement from them. I believe I did a balance transfer and payed it off, but have not been able to find documentation. In all honesty, I have many CC so what gets paid is what I have bills for. I KNOW I stopped receiving statements on this acct. (It appears this acct was sold several times, giving me even more suspicion that these are incorrect records).

In reading thru other posts, I am trying to figure out how to respond to the arbitration. Hanna never validated the debt, in fact, they never responded - Chase did. (I have my receipt for certified mail to Hanna but not sure I received a sign copy bac - am looking).

The arbitration says Chase Bank, C/O Frederick J. Hanna and the Claimant is: Chase Bank USA v. my name. Who am I really dealing with here Chase or Hanna?

In addressing this arbitration, should I do the following? What else?

    - Contact Chase first and see what, if anything I can work out perhaps in settlement?
    - In the arbitration there was no copy of the contract but there was a sheet of paper with the account number and balance on it.
Doesn't Hanna have to have an agreement to arbitrate to proceed?
Should I inform the NAF that I do not agree to arbitration because no valid contract is in place?
Should I ask for a copy of the contract they are basing the arbitration proceeding on?

    I am in Texas btw.
