This is a great resource, and I suspect it will help us (my wife and I) tremendously. I have done a search but the information I found were mostly target towards delinquencies and derogatoriness occurred long ago and have since been sent to the CA. Which doesn't fit what my needs are perfectly. My wife and I are looking at a house that will fit our income ratio well, but our credit are not great, so it is my hope to repair either hers or both of our credit. My own credit worthiness is a typical tale, I've destroyed it during college and is still recovering from it, I also had to return my car to the bank (Ford Credit), in which I had a joint account, I think my score is somewhere around low 400's, consider how low the score is, I decided to work on my wife's credit score first. Her score is 555/565/544 right now. According to her credit report, there are 2 delinquent, 3 derogatoriness. Creditors are 3 credit cards (2 open and one closed), student loan (deferred) and 3 random collections including Cable company, Municipal Court (parking ticket), and Public Library. We've decided to go on Chase Credit Card's payment program, in which we pay $21.50 for 9 months and then our payment will increase to $25/month, however that card has a 150+ days delinquency, did we make the right move in going with their payment program? And if it's the wrong move, what kind of damage control can we do now? I guess my question is, how do I go about repairing an account this new? The two other credit cards each has a 90 day overdue in the past (at most 6 months ago), and minimum amount is paid now. Are there any way I can go back and repair those delinquencies? There are a few other due payments that are in the pipeline which I'm afraid will result in collection. One is an auto impound that has resulted in first collection effort, I have no yet seen it on the credit report, should I pay that off as priority? The other is a closed cell phone service account, in which we owe a significant amount of money to, since it is not on the credit report yet, would it be this board's advice to pay that off as priority as well? I know it's a loaded question, I have no idea where to start but want to start immediately. I've been reading all day since yesterday, I've read the 101, glossary, all about writing letters and the law, but it is starting to feel like all these cases does not apply to my wife's account =( Thanks in advance for this board's help! matt
