I just said a little prayer for you. I live in AZ too and this is not good but so far it has not reached Show Lo. I pray that your home is left safe no matter what happens! God Bless you. Smit
wooooooooooo hoooooooooo, GreyFox or should that be a yaaaaaaa hooooooooo to keep charlie happy? LOL If everything holds they are hoping to let Showlow residents back in on monday, says your mayor Sassy
That's wonderful news, isn't it? Monday seems like a long way off, though....I am comfortable with relatives in a nice home with a great yard for the animals, but I feel for the thousands cooped up in the shelters, having to wait so long....I wonder why the delay? The only thing I can think of is that I believe the gas company will insist on someone being home so they can light pilot lights, and their people probably won't work weekends. I can hardly believe the fire missed Show Low...it's kind of a miracle, I believe..the weather has been just right. I am so thankful! And thankful for your support!
Yes, GreyFox, wonderful!!!!!! I've wondered how much sleep those people are really getting, all I can imagine is Mr. Sassy snoring away and hundreds of neighbors beating him with pillows, LOL. The news did have a gas company representative on, they severed the gas from the City and it isn't a small deal to get it all reconnected; yep, including personal pilot lighting. I'm sure when you get home you'll hear of more miracles. There was a man that didn't evacuate and firemen telling of the pictures of the wall of fire coming straight ahead at them, he was in one of the surrounding small towns, and a gust of wind blew it in the opposite direction and skipped the whole neighborhood -- gotta love that! Sassy
Come home, GreyFox! The roads into Showlow and the City are open as of 9a. Grab those charge cards and fill up your gas tank, lol -- no speeding tickets allowed! Still problems with the gas in west Showlow but they will be working through the weekend to get you re-connected. Be safe -- Welcome Home! Sassy
On our way tomorrow, Sassy!!! Decided to hang back and let the first wave get off the highways today, and leave mid-morning tomorrow. We live in west Show Low, so are probably among the ones without gas, but have enough electric appliances to cook with and an electric water heater in one of the bathrooms, so we will be fine. Anxious to see the "moonscape" up there....can't even imagine what it must look like. I will update when we get computers hooked back up. Thanks for the support.
Greyfox, Glad you will be home soon! Everyone has been praying, wishing and hoping for the fire to be contained. It's probably a good idea to hang back a bit - the roads will be busy. We'll look forward to hearing from you when you are back online. Hope it's a bit cooler there - VERY hot here in Sedona. Mommy2cats
I'M HOME! We arrived home at 2:30 AZ time, and in our end of town there is absolutely no sign of the fire! We are unpacking and watering our parched yard, so will not go sight-seeing for a day or two to see the damage, but our place is untouched, and they didn't eve turn off our gas.... Supper is cooking, steak to celebrate! The local Safeway was open, and very well stocked, considering. A few restaurants and fast food places were open on the main drag. It's HOT. 93, with 9% humidity....but we are just happy to be here, and our animals are tickled to death to be in their own home. What an experience! Think I will just veg out tomorrow, and try to come down from all the stress.
