I am soo mad!!! I called Arrow and they said JC Penney placed this account into collection in 2/1996. I paid this account in full in 10/1996. My credit report up until now shows it as a paid collection for JC Penney. Now I have a collection for AFS in the amount of $147.00. They also said that the last payment made on this account was in May of 1998. that is totally untrue. Why would I pay the balance in 1996 and then make a payment in 1998??? I asked the guy if he had verification of the payment made in 1998 and he said no. I would have to get that information from JC Penney and then we went on to tell me that JC Penney would not speak to me, that they would only refer me back to them. What now???? Please Help!

Also my cr says that this was placed into collection with Arrow in 10/2001. I never recieved any collection notices or phone calls rom these people. I know I have rights here, I just am not sure what they are. Can someone please help????

Nicole, Go to the Sample Letters and send them a validation letter. Don't talk to them anymore over the phone. You need have "hard copy" proof of everything for your records. This is just a suggestion that I do.
Get a file folder for Arrow Financial Services and keep everything in there. I write all of their contact info on the inside of the file folder. I would fax the letter (so that they get it ASAP) and then I would mail it to them Certfied, return receipt requested. Make sure that you get a comfirmation sheet from your fax machine that shows proof that they received the fax. Make copies of everything you send. Don't make notes on the fronts of the correspondance, just in case you need to make copies of them at a later date to send to the Attorney General's office, the Better Bus. Bureaus, etc. I usually make notes on the backs. Date everything. Have you called JC Penney? While I was waiting on the response to the validation letter, I would make a phonecall. Email me and I'll give you a number to JC Penney where they should be able to help you. I had a JC Penney account showing some negatives from years ago and they were very nice and helpful at that number. As a matter of fact, I just spoke with them today.

Arrow Financial is the worse. I had many battles with them. I agree to NOT talk anymore with them on the phone. They use caller ID so if they didnt have your phone number before they do now.

Arrow financial buys old debts which can not be verified by anyone.

Validation is the way to go. They play very hard ball. I had to pay my debt and then dispute it off. That worked for me b/c I wanted my credit cleared quickly for a car purchase.

If you have the time, go the validation route and bring them to their knees. They will more than likely play dumb b/c they are complete jerks.

    I HATE ARROW FINANCIAL.

    Good luck!
