Hello all......a complete newbie but trying hard to suck all this information in. I recently pulled all my cr and found an account I swear is not mine and it is from a time I did not open any new accounts. TU and EQ deleted them on dispute 1st time no problem.
Experian has now validated and updated saying it's mine. The funny thing is the original creditor is someone I can't figure out for the life of me. It is called DAG FInancial Trust 2002-A....when I look it up online I can find lawsuits with that name, but that is not a valid company. The creditor now is Arrow Financial Services but the original creditor is DAG Financial Services Has anyone heard of them?
So what is my next step to get Experian to get rid of this, obviously Arrow has a bad reputation and Experian is known to be a pain on deleting things....but I swear this account isn't mine. Even the account number is weird and looks like no credit card I've ever held. I'm thinking it might be another old account that was bought and is looking like something new and seperate when in fact it's old and shouldn't be showing up on my cr.
    Please help. THANKS

I'm fairly new as well, but I think what you should do is a debt validation (DV) with Arrow Financial, as well as sending a CMRRR letter to Experian asking what information they got from Arrow showing the account and requesting validation from them. Wait the customary 30 days for a response, if nothing, send an intent to sue letter to Experian to force their hand.

Your experian report...which of the two creditors does it list and does it list COMPLETE address and/or phone number info? You will need a street address, not a P.O. Box. If there is a phone number, you can usually call to get the street address you need. Doorknob was onto something with the certified mail, return receipt request, just in case you are wondering what CMRRR is and it DOES work. However, you need to explain more of your situation. There are many helpful, very very intelligent experienced friends on here than can give you explicit information. Your disputed item, what is it for, what is the balance, when was it reported, did you receive communication from either company? Did you respond to either company, etc, etc. It is all important info here. I will check back to see your reply and to see who is responding. I can always use to learn more. Two things to read up on within this site while you are looking for more replies that will help you more than you can imagine....Statue of Limitations for your state and DEBT VALIDATION, DEBT VALIDATION. Read any and all of it you can. Knolwedge on this site is your most powerful weapon. Should you wish to e-mail....feel free. Reatha

Thanks for the advice.....i will do that with arrow and experian. I moved from NY a year ago to my current AZ.....I've been reading up on SOL and from what I can tell the SOL of where you lived when debt was incurred holds up so it's 6 years in NY. The alleged debt is opened NOV 2002 reported since May 2002 (which doesn't make any sense to me) Date of status May 2002
Last reported April 2006 type collection credit limit $896 recent bal $1464

There is a street address for Arrow but no phone # and I only have a partial account number. From all I've read Arrow is a horrible collection agency and frankly I don't want to wake this sleeping giant (I still swear it's not mine but what if it is?) I can't afford to pay right now. TU and EQ deleted it on my first dispute. I guess I will just have to try a more detailed report from Experian to see why they find this is my account.

msthang77, if you are still out there perhaps checking in to see if anything else posted on this reply...Experian has been a pain in the butt lately to me also. Experian will more than likely simply send you a letter saying it was verified by the creditor. If you really want to get this removed you probably will want to debt validate. I understand not wanting to pay at this moment, but if they haven't tried to sue up to four years later...they probl. aren't. And if two out of the three deleted it...they probably aren't too concerned with your account right now. But, the increase in debt is bothering me. They are still tacking on late charges and penalites. They probably won't bother you until it reaches a very "delectible" amount for them to sue upon. Then what? Perhaps it is better to awaken them now rather than later?? There are others right now reporting on arrow...perhaps do a search on arrow and read up on what is going on with the other users who are confronting them right now. I don't think you should be intimidated by them. A DV is after all, only a debt validation. And if this isn't your debt, then a deletion will raise your score significantly. Just food for thought. Thought ya might like to know someone is on your side. Let us know what goes on.

I could only find a LOT of court documents, and they didn't contain any address either.

If they just showed up on your reports, and you heard nothing before they put themselves there....that is a violation, the CRA legally must provide an address for each creditor on your report so check there to see if one exists.

If the bureau tells you they have no address, that is a violation......and also, even if the verify electronically, they still need the city code, etc. You can call the bureau listing the tradeline and get the address from them too.

I found another post on a seperate credit board, and they have no idea who DAG Financial is either (was sold to Arrow too). But it might be something to monitor in case there are any responses if you are not able to get this figured out - http://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=132630

Apparently they also have something to do with Providian ? Did you have an old Providian account?

I have no idea why I'm looking this stuff up - guess its cause usually I can find ANYTHING on the net and it's frustrating me that this company is hiding :)

Thanks Shadekitty and Reatha-I have sent the DV.....
I did have a Providian account which is showing as transfer/sold from 6/1999....but last activity reported was 3/2002 so it has years to go till SOL is up......But either way.....Providian and Arrow are both showing on my CR....so one should be removed shouldn't it? The same debt showing up 2x is hurting me isn't it? The last Providian balance was $564 Arrow is showing it as $1425 now.......good lord :(
    I'll keep you posted.

I am so glad that you are still keeping up with the postings. And really, I have no scolding to give you. I am really glad to hear that you did DV though, I must say. I know it is a bit of an intimidating undertaking, but I really do think the odds are in your favor. I have had accts. removed that I never would have been able to remove all thanks to DV. All of us have been through the torture of the CRA's at one time or another for something. Heck, I'm still working on my files right now. It is a process, for sure. But, I think one in which you will gain knowledge, and KNOWLEDGE IS POWER FOR SURE IN THIS GAME!!!!

To answer your question, no the same account can't post on your reports that I know of. If the OC -original creditor and the CA - collection agency are both posting then one will be deleted. Do you have anything with your old providian acct# on it in case this is the link to the CA? More than likely, the OC would be deleted from the file if a CA bought the account. SO, you can see what they are trying to get from you in lates and penalties.

I so hope this works out...and do let us know when you get any response. One thing that I have had great results from is disputing through the CRA as soon as I debt validate. This sometimes works because the company that you DV'd is not allowed to report or collect on the item during DV status. Sometimes they will slip up and verify with the CRA or report to the CRA. This is a violation and if you make the CRA aware that you know this is a violation, sometimes they will delete the acct. I sure hope this helps.

Ok wonder if you guys are still around but here we are almost 2 months later. I NEVER got anything back from ARROW dv...nothing no response. I had disputed Providian with all the CRA's and it HAS been deleted. Thank goodness. I have also cleared off about 4 other accounts on my CRA's since my last post, so I am very pleased with my progress.

So what do I do with ARROW? It's still showing on Experian who won't delete it. Arrow hasn't verified or validated via writting. I have copies of my CMRRR, should I send again? Should I contact AG?
    HELP!

The worst part is I KNOW THIS ACCOUNT isn't mine! The other CRA's deleted, but Experian is really hard up to keep it on here. I don't want to proceed wrong and screw up my chances.

ALSO Arrow has several HARD PULL inquiries on my various reports. Can I request the CRA's that DELETED the account also delete the inquiries?
I have a hard time understanding why collection agencies constantly hard pull. I know they are skip tracing but when the account isn't yours, shouldn't the inquiry be removed with the account?
