I am so dumb, I always forget to do this when
    talking to a rep.

ALWAYS, ALWAYS make a note of the rep's name.

Long story, but I forgot to do it and regretted it
    later.

I don't know why I am so dense about this.

It might be best to ask at the beginning or (I haven't decided) it might be best to ask at the end.
(It might intimidate the rep-- is that a *good* thing?)

But ASK and write it down. So later you can cite it
    verse, line and chapter.

(OK , OK short(ish) version of long story. Asked if I was eligible for lower rate. Rep said, oh Yes! 7.99 fixed. (Well, it *sounded* too good to be true, but who is going to look a gift horse (etc.) sooo, I agreed. Later, change of terms arrived. She was going to change me from prime + 4% to prime PLUS 7.99 Now who in their right mind would agree to a HIGHER APR? Nice rep changed it back, but I didn't have the original name to point a finger at. Holy moly)

    Dear Calypso,

    Don't do that again.

    Thanks Butch :)

I hate to become a total paranoid but what do you think--- was she scre$#ng with me?

The second rep sounded genuinely perplexed.

"Errr, ummm, I can't imagine why she would have
offered to switch you to a higher APR. Did you get her name?" (Hence, my post)

Sometimes I think I'm taking this wayyyyy too seriously, and I that I should just hang it up for
a while. But then, I think of all the benefits I've
derived and my obsession seems worth it.

Tune in next year for my final assessment.

When the CSR makes their "notes" at the end of the call, doesn't their name and/or employee ID number get logged as well (showing they took the call)?

    He told me:

My name is X, my ID number is X, but the person
you spoke to didn't log in.

He might have been blowing smoke, but I really don't think so.

He sounded very genuine and sincere and
    embarrassed! at his colleague's actions.

He was the one who reminded (careless) me to ALWAYS get the rep's name.

They say that fear and greed are the driving forces
in many of our actions. I was pretty stoked about
meriting a 7.99 fixed. Never even CONSIDERED asking "can I please have your name?"

Oh well. Lesson learned. (I hope)
