I was looking at my Exp and Equ reports and realized that it's only the original creditor who's listed for my charge-offs. Is this usual? I'm dealing with a CA -- just sent estoppel yesterday. Should I be dealing with the original creditor? These records are from years ago (1999), so ca hasn't put anything new on, although they did say they reported to both CRAs.

my exp score has dropped 10 points since I joined ce last week... alhtough nothing new has been reported.

    Also...

The chargeoff I haven't started to deal with yet was turned over to collections a few years ago and they gave up right away. If I want that one deleted, do I contact the collection agency (from three years ago)?

So basically I have two chargeoffs on my reports, but no record of anything going to collections... no mention of collection agencies or names of collection agencies on the reports. I don't know if this is usual or not.

Have the ca's been after you to pay? I ask because if it has been 3 years since it went to collections and you haven't heard anything, I'm not too sure I would want to reawaken them. Might just want to leave the ca alone. As far as the original creditors go, have you disputed it with the cra's yet? If not, that is where I would start. Dispute them as not mine to start with. IF they verify, then you can send them the original creditor validation letter that Lizardking wrote. It is in the letter section.

One is bugging me and we are in full swing (estoppel letter). The other (bigger debt) hasn't contacted my in several years.

    Nope. I will now, though.

Umm. So I should send the original creditor the validation letter even though the debt was turned over to collections three years ago?

If you want to get rid of the original creditor you should. But, wait to see if it comes off with the dispute to the cra's. If they verify, then go ahead and send it - make them prove what they are reporting.

Okay... thanks so much. Tomorrow I will dispute with the CRAs (I guess except for the one CA that I sent the estoppel to... I am waiting to hear what they say).

I just say "not mine" and that's it?
