I got a call from Aspire today. They "reconsidered" my application that was declined months ago. I could only understand every other word that the woman was saying. She said they would send me the disclosure and maybe the card in the mail. I wonder if they pulled my report again, or if they just can't find anyone that will pay that 40% APR. She claims my APR would start at 19.XX, but it looks like they can raise your APR at any time they please......NOT. I wonder if anyone has had a good experience with them......
Hi MIKE! The problem, I've heard, with ASPIRE is that they DO NOT REPORT to the credit bureaus. Even with a grace period, where, conceivably you could avoid interest charges, its a NON-EXISTENT CARD as far as the bureaus are concerned. I don't see any benefit to having ASPIRE. Just my thoughts - but Cap One, Providian, FCNB (recommended) are very good cards that will build credit. You can get approved. Those 3 cards mentioned re-built my credit from a Chap 13 BK in 1996. I now carry Nextcard and AMEX - I also kept my FCNB and my Cap One. FCNB charges 18% - but I have a 5K limit. Cap One lowered me to 12.9% That is a GREAT RATE even for regular prime credit. I use AMEX 90% a month now. My credit gets better and better - there is strong payment history and my V/MC cards stay free for "revolving-type emergencies." Hope this helps. c ya dogman
