I have received endless calls from Asset Acceptance over the past week. I have never talked to them, but they continue to leave messages on my answering machine. About 4 months ago, they started reporting an account with last activity of 12/1996 (a Lerner account). I tried disputing it with Experian and it came back verified. Then today I received a CreditWatch alert that they pulled a hard inquiry. What can I do?
I have 2 accounts with them. Got 1 deleted as not mine. Sent validation on the other. Got printout. Sent C&D letter and they reported it as in dispute on the CRA. It seems like they at least read the mail.

Asset blows, but they are fairly easy to get rid of. At least for me they were. Just send out the validation. The odds of them having any sort of proof is extremely slim to none. Also, check out your SOL. That's a really old debt. Also since they are calling you non-stop, just send out a cease and desist. Pick up the phone, tell them that you are sending them a cease and desist in the mail and to please stop calling.
