it seems after 6 years Hurly State Bank sold an account I had with them to

    Asset Acceptance Corp,
    7027 Miller Drive
    Warren MI 48092
    1-800-736-7107.

I figure this was something in my dismissed BK13 that is coming back to haunt me.

The collection company is posing as a loan company try to verfiy my employment......LOL I answered the phone.

She was very polite and very inquistive. I told her the truth. I was no longer with the company. I went 1099 6 months ago so I am no longer legally and employee.

I feel they are preparing for a garnishment, which they will be SOL. I keep most of my money on credit cards or in cash in case something like this would happen.

    My questions:

Shouldn't they have a least sent me something first, in the mail?

Is this a common tatic to try to collect on the verge of the 7 year limit?

Has anyone ever had problems with these companies?

is it or is it not illegal for the Collections company to call and verfiy employment and never send the person in a question any notice?

I figure if they got my business number they have my home number.

..yes i an sending a validation letter today!

    TIA

I am dealing with this company, they bought the debt from Gulf State. They were both on my credit report until it was deleted from Eqf. it is in dispute with Exp.

They have the acccount listed with Eqf. as dispute-resolution pending and it is unrated. It is on my Trans Union which I am going to dispute this weekend.

I sent validation letters to a street address and I never received the CRRR back and I never received the original letter back so I went to the Post Office they have no documentation on it except is was mailed so I got refund.

I resent it yesterday, priority mail or CRRR I don't remember, to the FL address. I need to have proof that they received it. So this sets back my 30 day time limit for validation before I can send the Estoppel.

I had called a local state agency and the guy investigated and he found that they weren't licensed in the State of FL as far as he found. They requested an application but never followed through. I included this in my letter an have not heard from them.

I will be sending out the Estoppel Feb. 7th because I am almost certain they cannot validate. They are the 2nd ca trying to collect so wish me luck!

I called one time and I was going to offer to pay for deletion but they added 100% interest. The original chargeoff was for about $2500 and they say it's now $4700. I refuse to pay that amount!!! So, I found this board - thank GOD! And, I am following the process.

Also, do a search under Asset Acceptance and you'll find some interesting stuff. They are a member of BBB, I think. Check BBB website.

Find out if they are licensed in your state and include in your letters, if they are not.

When I sent my validation letters, I quoted the FDCPA and FCRA in it. I also listed what I thought the violations were.

hmmm.... I wish that was an option. Time has taught me the sooner you deal with these people the better. Thanks for the post, anything I do with them will have a paper trail.

They have one of my old charged off accts. and they are real buttheads. I sent them a validation letter and got my green card back about three weeks ago - have heard nothing from them. I will not give them any more than 30 days. They are a bunch of jerks.
