How easy is it to get Asset Acceptance collections deleted from my bureau with a debt validation letter??? Date opened was 04/1998 Reported Since is 07/1996 Date of Status is 04/2001 Last Reported is 12/2000 ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Does some of this information contradict itself??? I'm not understanding why it's showing as opened in 1998 but reported since 1996. Or would I have better luck trying to dispute from the CRA?? So far EX has not been very thorough with my disputes. Only received one response back so far though. I'm starting to try to fix my reports and started with Experian. Next I will do EQ, finishing up with TU. Thanks. Matt: I had a similar experience with Experian when attempting to have incorrect information removed from my credit report. Asset Acceptance misidentified me and put info with someone else's name and SS# on my credit report. The only piece of info that was mine was the address, and I live in an apartment building. I contacted Experian twice to dispute the info, but they kept coming back saying it was verified. I contacted Asset Acceptance by mail with a validation letter. They responded, and I realized someone used my first name and a similar last name, as well as a variation on my SS#! I let Asset Acceptance know about this apparent id theft, and filed a police report, got the fraud alerts, etc., but Asset Acceptance STILL kept verifying this information as accurate on my reports, and did not include a statement that the item was in dispute. I had to threaten both Asset Acceptance and Experian with lawsuits before Experian finally deleted the information. I hope you don't have to go through the same experience as I did. Kjoe How long did it take to get it off your reports? Are you willing to post some of the letters you sent? YOu can email it to me if you don't want to post. I have sent validation & estoppel and they haven't responded. Only have updated as in dispute. I am going through a second round of disputes with Experian and Equifax. I am hoping they don't verify again. They have not contacted me since I sent the validation but they keep verifying. Also, I called yesterday and was put on hold for an eternity. I am getting nowhere with ASSet.
I began disputing this information both with Experian and with Asset Acceptance in October of 2001. AA sent me a "validation" - with a different name and SS# (you're right - they ARE morons!), saying that this was mine. I sent them two more letters, and got no response from them, but I created my paper trail. I then sent two letters to Experian, letting them know I was filing a complaint against them with the FTC, and letting them know I was willing to sue them in court for violating FCRA Section 623(a) - not including a notice that the item was in dispute. I received notice from Experian that the item was deleted February 7. I will email you copies of the letters I sent to Experian. How do I get your email address? I am new to this board.
