It's a small victory but a victory nonetheless. The balance was a little over $800 on the account and it did nothing for my credit score - but it's one less collection on my account :) I think the credit-gods granted me a small favor as I was beginning to get really discouraged LOL so keep learning, keep researching and keep disputing! I'm looking for Midland to fall off soon. They haven't been able to validate and I just reported them to the San Diego BBB. I'll keep you guys updated!

Mrs T... Where you able to pay for deletion on Midland or has it been 7 yrs and it is falling off? This is the only item that remains negative on my credit report. The people I have talked to at Midland say they do not do 'pay for deletion', so I haven't tried to negotiate with them.

Cherie, I believe Mrs. T. was referring to Asset Acceptance deleting from her report.

Midland is in the middle of the validation process.

Update, sorrry for the late reply!

Asset deleted after not being able to validate. Midland sent me a letter saying they instructed the 3 credit bureaus to delete but I'm still waiting for it to fall off. It's been about 2 1/2 weeks already. I'm gonna send a copy of Midland's letter to the bureaus on Monday to speed up the process. Anyways, Midland was a harder one to crack. I realized they couldn't validate after my final validation request they sent me a debt settlement offer. I then reported them to the Better Business Bureau. That's when they mailed me the deletion letter.
