Asst needed..medical collections

Hi, I am in need of some assistance here. I have a couple of medical colllections from the same CA that aren't paid (one was paid many moons ago). I want to go about having these removed and I want to pay these bills. I don't want to make a wrong move though. Do you think I can settle these accts for a little bit less then what I owe and can you please tell me my best way of getting them removed. I am not good on the phone though I get pressured into things easily so I would like to go about this by mail. Can I come up with my own proposition and mail it to them?
