Well...got my Privista alert today and on 5/21 I went to the AT&T Wireless Store to buy and add a cell phone to my account for my son. It cost me 1 inquiry on Equifax! :-(

I'm so hot right now...my Privista score dropped 2 points because of it. Luckily I don't need anymore credit but still, just makes me mad. So WATCH OUT!

CALL AND ASK WHAT THEIR "PERMISSABLE PURPOSE" WAS...

Doesn't matter. I'm not going to even waste the 20 minutes on the phone to do it. They aren't going to retract it and Equifax will not delete it...period! I already know this...

I was mainly posting this to warn others. When I was approved for an AT&T cell phone, I was approved for up to 5 phones. Now...2 months later, they have to pull an inquiry to get a second phone on my account? Whatever...

Besides, I have bigger things to worry about.....like how Ford Credit is all of the sudden out of no where is reporting the Charged off (zero balance) auto loan with a $400 and something dollar balance! Now it looks like my account was charged off and I owe them money still. This is a big fat lie and I think that they did this intentionally to poison my credit file due to the fact that I've filed numberous disputes with equifax, I have email Ford Credit Customer Serives a million time, and I've even emailed managers within customers service (by guess their email address with luck). I've tried everything to get this account reported correctly (Paid, no lates, zero balance) but no one seems to want to listen. IT HAS BEEN SEVEN YEARS! I'll give them a call tomorrow and see what I can accomplish. Meanwhile I'll fire off a letter and dispute it ONCE AGAIN.

You want the $400...I will take it off the $1,000 judgement from SMALL CLAIMS COURT...SO I WILL ONLY FILE FOR $600...SO YOU MIGHT AS WELL SEND ME A CHECK FOR $600 A.S.A.P....CAUSE YOUR GONNA' LOSE...

Seems to me that it should have been an AR or AM inquiry.

I had something similar happen with AT&T....I went in to get a pre-paid card. The rep said that he could not process it without a SSN. He swore that they would not run a credit check, and I stupidly gave him the SSN.

Sure enough, several weeks later I found a hard inquiry on all 3 of my reports from AT&T wireless. I called the store manager, who was not willing to help me and quite rude. So I escalated things to his manager, who had a credit investigation team supervisor call me. She was very cooperative, and she sent me a letter that said the inquiries were unauthorized. I forwarded the letter to TU and EQ (Exp. had deleted through disputing). EQ has deleted, and I'm still waiting for a new report from TU.
