Hi all, Just wanted to post some GREAT news and brag about accomplishing one of my new years resolutions for cleaning up my credit. Recently a lot of folks on this board have been inquiring about different cell providers. I sang the praises of AT&T and have a happy ending to report (or beginning however you want to look at it). I had an Airtouch/Verizon account for 3+ years and couldn't get them to lift the limits on my plan (No roaming, etc. I may have been late once or twice, I can't remember)and they never reported to any of the 3 major reporting agencies. In 07/00, after another one of my many fruitless discussions with Verizon, I decided to shop around and checked with AT&T. An extremely nice rep took my application over the phone and informed me that they could provide me service but I would be subject to a $200.00 service limit (that was the only restriction on the account). I was more than thrilled (knowing full well I'd never go over $200 per month) and I switched to their service (the rep at Verizon didn't even ask why I was cancelling). The AT&T rep explained that after 6 months, AT&T would review my account and remove the service limit if all my payments were timely. Since, I opened my account at AT&T, I made sure that all my payments were timely and they have reported to at least one agency (Experion; I have not seen a current Equifax or Transunion but plan to get one shortly). Well, guess what? Yes, after 6 months I contacted the credit department at AT&T. They thanked me for making all of my payments on time and my service limit was happily removed!! AT&T has provided great cell service and fantastic customer service. If your looking to add another good tradeline, I highly recommend them. CR
How is AT&T showing your cell phone on your credit report(s)? Do they report to all 3 CRA's. The impression I got from others is that AT&T reports you as late without hesitation. Thanks.
CR, That is GREAT news! I am on the same plan; I got the phone in 10/00 (and they pulled Equifax when they set up the account....). So far I have been on time with my payments, in fact I pay them the same day I get them, online. It'd be nice to get rid of that $200 limit on SOMETHING.... (hello, CapOne, are you listening??) Cheers, Cindy
Jim: They report PAID AS AGREED and a $0.00 balance. Cindy: It will happen. I'm proof. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. CR
RE: Who does AT&T check? Molly, I believe it was Equifax. In Cindy's post, she also mentioned that Equifax did her check. Let me know if there is anything else. CR
