Hi all, I received an invitation to apply for this platinum mastercard card yesterday. I particularly like the BT offer of 0% through next year and the go to rate of 12.49% apr. I have two questions and would appreciate any information anyone has on this: 1. Has anyone definitely on Citibank's blacklist ever gotten approved for the AT&T Universal card? Does anyone know if Citi's credit dept is doing the approvals for this card or is "Universal Bank, N.A." still a separate entity from Citibank wrt the credit department? 2. Has anyone successfully combined a Citi Platinum Select card (or any other Citi card) with an AT&T Universal card? Thanks in advance,
Actually, I just found this from Lizardking. I guess that means I'm out, too. "Re: LKH/positive credit action itm list Lizardking | 1786 posts since Feb 2001 65.35.155.229 | 01.16.2002 @ 02:44 I applied for an AT&T universal card without realizing that it is really from Citibank. I had a $13,000 charge-off from a Citibank Classic card. They sent me the rejection letter based on previous charge-off. So they clearly will still reject you even if it is a different card. That makes sense. So, Citibank must have taken over all new Universal applications, but did not integrate Universal's blacklist database for old accounts. This would be confirmed if you applied for a Universal account today, for example, and was approved with no problems. They have a new promotion going for 0% BT rate for one year, which I think is fantastic. I suppose I could apply and beg Citi for a reconsideration - but I've done that so much this year and frankly don't feel like going through that again.
It's good to leave a sleeping giant alone know what i mean Citi told me to go away, 25K line is all they are going to let me have
LOL! I understand. I've gotten a lot out of Citi this past year so I think I'll just leave them alone, too. Citi is very sensitive to income, and available credit on other cards when issuing credit limits.
1) Does Citi ask for any income verification? 2) Anyone in CA apply for this AT&T? I had a chargeoff from AT&T before, but I assume I could get it now?
marci, I got a couple of charge-off accounts with Citibank back in early 90s and I'm sure one time I was in their blacklist. Two yrs I applied for Citibank cards, I got approved. Never try to combine AT&T with Citibank cards. I heard some one from this board if you're on the Citibank blacklist, they will denied your AT&T Universal Card. They sent you invitiation because you meet certain criteria from credit bureaus. Just like Amex Express sent me a couple of pre-approval application for the Gold Card and they denied me because my name is on the blacklist. Ron.
Thanks, Ron, for your response. I am definitely on Citibank's blacklist, despite being manually approved for 3 cards this year. I don't how or when I will ever get off.
marci, If you have a charge-off accounts over 10 yrs like mine, you may have a chance to get approve. If you have a charge-off accounts like in 97, you definitely on their blacklist. Ron.
Yes, that's me. It was charged off in 1997. I still may give it a shot, next month if I think I can succeed on reconsideration. Separately - why do you say that I should NOT attempt to combine a Citi card and an AT&T Universal card? Is it that it is logistically impossible or just a really bad idea?
Marci, I have a Citi Plat Select and Universal Platinum. Last summer I tried to combine them into the Citi , and was told it wasn't possible because Citi has no 'comparable' card. Maybe something's changed since then, but that's what I was told.
marci, I haven't tried to combine AT&T and CitiCards,so I don't know it is a bad idea or not. I don't know they operate separately and it still run under Citibank SD. Ron.
Update: I called Citibank who said that merging Citi cards and AT&T cards was not available, and would not be doable for another 5 years. The rep did say that Citi's credit department did review AT&T Universal applications.
