As far as I know- the changeover will take place on February 20 - and the new cards will be received by March 2. I'm not sure if you can still use the old card - until the new card arrives - from Feb 20 onwards.
i'll call ACF tomorrow and check.

    hey geo-
ACF sez that you can continue using the card til u get the MBNA replacement card - which should arrive by March 2. Then - cut up the old ACF card and call to activate the new MBNA- ACF card.

If we're lucky - MBNA might be offering 2.9% on purchases/bts for a few months. Also - in the past - when i had a card bought out by another company - i automatically received a credit increase...
so - who knows - MBNA might not be that bad after all.

Thanks Mark. Yes, It looks that the change will be good and MBNA will offer better rates.

Although MBNA closed my Amtrak Plat MC 6 months ago. It was a perfect account with 20,000 limit, the reason was" too much available credit (?)".What I think was because I barely used that card and never used their BT checks.

My current ACFederal is 15k limit, Wich is no much different fom my old MBNA card.

It's one of MBNA's famous methods of operating. They looked at your CR and decided you had too much open credit, so they cancel your card. Sometimes they'll just decrease the limit or raise the rate.

And don't think this will be different because you use the card. The next time it might be that you're using too much of your credit or using your card too much.

Better have a backup card ready.

That´s correct., As matter of fact I never asked for a limit increase, they raised it every two or thee months. It went from 5.5k to 20k in two years. I also noticed a soft and a hard inquire on Experian at the time of closure.
