I saw Sunday's Dateline feature on ATMs and "skimming," and how thieves can get your money, account info., etc.

Is it even safe anymore to withdraw money from an AM, even your own bank's? I always use my credit cards, but sometimes you need to have good, old, green cash, like it or not.

Maybe it is safer to actually go into your bank and write a check to "Cash" to get money, the way they did it back in the age of Dinosaurs. Are ATM cards or ATM machines even safe anymore?

    What do others think?

I'M ON A CASH FREE DIET (TOO EXPENSIVE)

    i work for a bank.

its usually user error that allows theives access to your money - not removing your card, finishing your transaction, leaving receipts.

i make deposits via atms, withdrawals, and i think they are perfectly fine.

It's called Regulation E - the law where consumers are protected against any unauthorized transactions used against their account. Yes, there will be an investigation, but you are still protected against THEFT and FRAUD against your account.
