Here's what happened, I called att to get a lower package to save money, was never told that they would be changing my account #(customer code), just that I would receive credit for partial months charges and whatnot. Several months later, there's a collection account on my credit report from EOS CCA, ugh. I called ATT and explained what happened, they apologized but couldn't do anything but accept payment which at the time, I couldn't do. Now I'm able to pay, but am not sure who to pay and how to get it removed from my report, I don't want to mess up cause I've heard horror stories about att, I just want it off my report if possible, but I'm afraid if I pay one or the other, that they can still report it? I'm just so mad that trying to save money has landed me in this boat! And the fact that I wasn't notified and it was just sent to collections? Thanks in advance for any input.
I believe that att still holds the account, so I'm thinking it's safe to pay them as long as they remove it from the collection agency? I can actually still access the account online too.
If AT&T still owns the debt, see if you convince them to pull it back from collections so you can pay them in full. Make sure you're 100% positive that it's no longer in the CAs hands before making payment.
