I just received two notices for accounts that are paid up until the end of April. These accounts are paid at the beginning of the month via draft from my account. I have now cancelled the accounts, and just received notification that I owe $35.90 EACH, for both my husbands and my account, which is impossible since it is paid in full at the begining of the month. Any thoughts on how to approach this. My husband wants to let them draft my account, then try to sue . Its really ticking me off.
Thanks for the smart ass remark Lbrown, guess I should have known considering the source. Too bad because I was actually beginning to like you. By the way it will cost as much to stop payment than to let them draft, and then come after them. Anyone who actually has HELPFULL advice, please feel free to reply
Re: Re: attempt to collect by ISP Was just curious as to why he would consider paying something he don't owe. Sorry you took it for something it wasn't![
Re: Re: Re: attempt to collect by ISP well, only because it may cost as much to stop the payment on the account, although depending on how you read their records, they could be saying that I owe 70 vs $35. I have them dead to rights, I copied my account info with payment history from their site, and according to it, I'm paid in full till April 30, and am not about to pay them for a month I won't even receive. I'm going on tonight to see if they've made changes to it, if they have I'm going after them before they even try to draft me. I wrote them a nasty letter last night and threated to report them to the fcc. I may go ahead and stop payment anyways, just to have my own peace of mind. I'm sorry I blew steam as well. I was pretty hot at the provider, and have had a bad week..
Re: Re: Re: attempt to collect by ISP I had a similar situation with a hosting provider. I canceled my account several times via their online support and never got a response. Then I got an invoice for the next month. I could have easily just blocked them from drafting my bank account, but did not. lbrown59 Not everything is that simple. I allowed them to draft another payment because I stopped and thought about it: If they were rejected by the bank they might report me to a CRA. Then the account could be sold to a CA who reports me, and then that account could be sold to another CA who also reports me, screwing up my credit. All this will take too much time and effort to clear up, if it ever got cleared up. Instead, as I suspected, they drafted the money after my cancellation. I disputed it with the bank and with the Better Business Bureau. I got my money back and avoided any collection accounts on my credit reports. I realize that it's a matter of principal to 'not pay for something that you don't owe' but sometimes you have to be smarter than you are headstrong.
