For those that have gone the route of using the Attorney General's office, did you get something in writing from the Attorney General after it was done?

I have just started using the Attorney General's offices and so far they have been extremely helpful and seem happy to help with my problem. I just wondered what to expect in the end. I just filed complaints in the last two weeks. They did tell me it could take a few months for resolution which is fine with me.

I was actually suprised at how helpful they were. I was afraid it would be another bureaucratic mess like it has been dealing with the cra's. The FTC just takes a complaint so I don't know that they are alot of help other than the fact that if enough complaints are filed they will do something then so it is good to let them know when you are having problems.

When I filed a complaint against Gulf State Credit and Berks Credit and Collections, I received copies of what the documentation they sent to the Attorney General's Office.

Basically, copies of the letters, from the collection agencies, that stated they were removing their tradelines from my credit reports. I made 2 copies and filed them away.

My experience with the Attorney General's office was surprisingly positive also.

In my 1st dealing with gulf state last year, I filed a complaint with my state banking dep't. who handles ca's in Az. Within 4 days of gulf state receiving my complaint from the dep't. they faxed a response to them stating they had closed their books on that acct. and were deleting it from my reports. They also said at the end of their answer that "We will not send LKH a notarized statement stating that this item will be removed and will not reappear as we can not be responsible for credit bureau errors"

What a crock. It hasn't shown up again and if it does show up again, they will be in deep caca as this acct. is now over 7 years old.
