    Hi all!!

I just sent out my first batch of validation letters to the CA's and did an online dispute with TU for about 5 tradelines ( I didn't want to do too many at once), and when I viewed my CR online I noticed my CR shows LAW OFFICE OF DAVID E pulled a hard inquiry about 10 days after I sent out my validation letters. I know you can't tell me for sure, but do you think it is a OC trying to get a judgement or an attorney's office doing collections??? All my chargeoffs are over a year old, the ones I just sent letters out are 2 or more years since charge off. If they are going to sue or file a judgement is there usually a time frame in which they do it or do they wait a couple years?/ Thanks for your help, I admit it made me a little nervous to see that.

That name sounds real familiar. You might call the CRA today and see exactly who it was. If it is who I think, its probably a collection attorney. Do you have a collection with Collect America or CACV of Colorado?

no I don't have collection accounts with either of those . What is the lowest amount you have heard that they get judgements for?? I know some amounts aren't worth the effort it would take to get a judgement. The highest amount I owe to one company is Sears and I owe them like $2000. so
I was thinking it might be them. They pulled my credit the month before.

OK, well try not to drive yourself crazy, because a law office pulled a hard. IMHO, its probably one of two things.

    1. One of the CA's you sent validation to had an attorney pull a hard. This might be construed as continued collection activity without validation. But you'll have to wait it out.

    2. The other thought - you disputed some tradelines? Were they chargeoffs? If they were, you may have "woke the giant", and you are about to get a dunning letter from another CA in regards to one of them. Again, you are going to have to wait it out. If this is the case, you start going the validation route with them, as soon as you here from them.

I just sent the tradeline disputes on the 13th. The pull was done on the 10th. But you are right it could be from the validation letters I sent out to the Ca's that I disputed with before I did online disputes. I guess the thing to do is to sit back and wait.

Just curious though, what is the lowest amount you have heard of a debt collector sueing for???

    Thanks for your help.

The lowest I've personally heard is about $2000. But I wouldn't take that kind of attitude. War is on the horizon, the stock market stinks, BKs are at an all time high, and debt collectors are having a harder time just like everyone else. So I wouldn't work under the assumption that they probably won't file on me, as the debt is too low...I won't be surprised if they start getting more aggressive, if they think its too their benefit.

There are a million collection agencys who call themselves attorneys. I presume they can get away with it because one out of the 159 employees passed the bar exam and all the other flunkies who work there have arubber stamp with his name on it. Just an intimidation ploy more times than not. to those with a list of charge offs, many collectors realize a judgement in itself isnt necessarily going to get themtheir money. not that some wont go the distance just to make an example and keep their books looking nice for perspective future clients. But my other half has over $160,000 in write offs and of those many collection agents who have those accounts only one has bothered to get a judgement. and that has never caused her to get a garnishment even. Just one judgement for like 3K on her report. no attempts to garnish. I myself am kind of astonished since the overall amounts are well in excess of $160K. Since the debts are of many creditors she will likely just chapter 7 it all.. with the exception of her student loans which are not dischargable. not sure how they will hinder her in the future.
Ive heard Sears are pretty nasty people in collection. I understand they make a habbit of showing up at BK meeting of creditors. pretty unheard of since seldom ever do creditors bother showing up. go figure. guess they really want ya to pay for that stove!
