    Good morning!

I am an authorized user on my husbands sears card, and we just bought several new appliances. The balance on his card was factored into my overall amount owed on revolving accounts and brought my EX score down 15 pts!!

I thought when you are an authorized user on an account, you are not liable for the amount owed? And the balance would not be factored into your total amount owed? I thought this was only the case if you had a joint account.

My roommate is an AU on my Sears account, and the same thing happened with her. I have been going around and around with Sears that they shouldn't be reporting it on her credit at all, especially since it shows as if it is her card (no mention of AU on her report), but so far to no avail.

If you are an Au on a credit card, the CRAs treat it as it was yours. You will have the same payment history(good or bad) as the primary account holder. The balances are reported as well.

the only thing i would add is that as an authorized user you are not liable to pay the charges...
