They do help a credit score when you are rebuilding credit like we are don't they? A couple of other posted messages here are leaving the impression to me that they don't matter. Has anybody discharged a BK or had paid collections, then improved their credit by talking someone into letting them be an AU? When you quit being an AU, how long does the record of the AU stay on your report? I hope 10 years if the account is never late.
If the account you are AU on is positive, then yes. If the account is derogatory, then no. Positive items stay on your report for 10 years. If you have to have an AU listing removed, it is "easier" than traditional accounts that are yours. All I had to do is contact the OC, have my name removed from the AU (actually you need the account holder to call), and then I requested they update the "tape" with the fact that I am not on that account, and it disappeared next month. -Peace, Dave
Is there any way to convince them TO report? My mom put me on her Sears card - positive history since 1975. I sure would LOVE to have that one show up on my report! Mommy2cats
I have an even DUMBER question, (not that the original one posted here was dumb) BUT someone told me that if you are an AU that you CAN charge items, BUT you CANNOT obtain cash advances? True or False?
