Authorized User--Affect Credit?

If a person with excellent credit add someone (husband/wife) to their credit card as authorized user, would the primary cardholder's credit be affected by the authorized user's credit.

    For example...

If someone who had declared bk was added as an authorized user to a person with excellent credit, would the primary cardholder's credit go down or be affected by the bankruptcy? My neighbor who is going to declare bk due to high medical bills from a car accident is wondering if he should be added to his fiancee's credit cards now or wait until they are married since he lives in CA, a community property state. He doesn't want to see his fiancee's credit ruined, but he fears he will lose his Citibank credit cards (both have $0 balances).

I would NOT have him added BEFORE the BK.

So my neighbor should wait until after he has filed for bk (he's filing next week)? Should he wait until after his bk has been discharged?

Lord no, don't make any move credit wise until the bk is discharged. AT that point, he can be added as an AU.
