Hi all, After using this wonderful website to clean my credit I ended up with a fully blank credit file, so I asked my step-father if he would put me on as a Auth user. He did and it has netted me a 788 FICO. It's my only trade line. The rest of my file is totally blank. My question is... Even though my FICO is high will i still have a hard time applying for credit cards due to the only trade line being an Auth user? Thanks, Travis
If you apply for many cards all at once, that increases your number of inquiries. That will lower your pretty little 788 in a heartbeat. Also, some lenders will freak out if they approve you, and then run your credit a couple days later and you have a bunch of new tradelines and/or inquiries. They may fear you're about to self-destruct with credit. You might derail your attempts to get credit.
Hi Tom, Yeah I kinda figured that was the worry. Though in perusing some threads over at FatWallet.com there are some that are throwing caution to the wind and and doing a app-o-rama approach where they apply for 25-35 various credit products in a few hours time. Some have reported considerable success with this method. Others as you said have seen it blow up in their face. The primary benefit I see is that you might have a certain window of time where the inquiries and tradelines of one attempt dont show up to the others. The hope being that all inquiries see and decide on a clean slate. Maybe ill get together with some friends and their computers, sychronize our watches and apply for 300 credit cards all within a second of eachother. MUAHAHAHA...just kidding Sincerely, Travis
