    Based on the advice I have kindly received on this board, I recently had my wife put me as an "Authorized User" on her AMEX Jet Blue card.

    She has great scores and a great credit profile.

    I have struggled, but of late gotten rid of lots of delinquent debt. In fact, aside from student loans, I have no outstanding debt as of last month.

    Currently I only have $1500 credit available, this AMEX has $7000, so I'm thinking it will help me out with my scores.

    Two questions:

    1. Is there a chance the "authorized user" application could be rejected? They have sent my wife an email saying "if you qualify" etc. I was not expecting this.

    2. Is there a chance my negative history could somehow drag her down?

    1) So long as you have not defaulted on an AMEX account previously, they will approve it;

    and,

    2) No, your credit history will not be transposed over on to her credit reports by virtue of the fact she added you as an authorized user to one of her accounts.

    damn, 12 years ago, when I was in college, I ran into trouble with them. I had an overdue balance for a while, but paid it all back. Ugh.

    THanks for your help.

    but according to Experian it was "Paid, Closed, Never Late."

    Perhaps they might approve me?
