Can anyone point me to an insurance company that doesn't use credit to determine insurance cost? No one is denying me insurance, but the premiums I'm being quoted are 3 times higher than before my credit went downhill. Also, I'm filing bankruptcy next month. Will it be easier to get good rates now, or after bankruptcy? Thanks!
I turned my insurance company in to the INSURANCE COMMISSIONERS OFFICE for doing a NO PP "HARD" HAVEN'T HAD A "HARD" SINCE!!!
Re: Re: Auto Insuranc with no Credit Check? Apparently, it does, since insurers pull credit reports prior to issuing policies. The world doesn't revolve around Geroge's logic, thank God.
Re: Re: Re: Auto Insuranc with no Credit Check? Just because they do it does not make it right. My ability to drive a car without smacking it into a pole has nothing to do with how timely I make my CC payments. In New York there is a bill in the Legislature to outlaw this practice. I hope it passes. If the Insurance company extends you credit (like a payment plan that runs into the lifespan of the policy), then I could/would understand their credit review, and in turn, PP for pulling your CR. But if you pay your balance in full and before the effective date of policy, there was no credit extended and hence no need to review an insured's credit. I don't always see eye to eye with George, but this time, he's right.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Auto Insuranc with no Credit Check? I HAVE PERFECT CREDIT... I have... One ticket (1983 7+ MPH) No claims No accidents "IF" I HAD POOR CREDIT WHY SHOULD I PAY MORE??? I would still have only ONE TICKET...NO CLAIMS...NO ACCIDENTS!!!!!!!!
Re: Re: Re: Re: Auto Insuranc with no Credit Check? MORE HOSTILITY FROM THE [] WANT-A-BE.... I STILL WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE ULTERIOR MOTIVE OF THE [] WANT-A-BE IS... BASH-BASH-BASH-BASH
Re: Re: Re: Re: Auto Insuranc with no Credit Check? The world doesn't revolve around anyones logic. Or in your case lack thereof. To suggest that simply because the industry pulls scores to determine premiums legitimizes the concept is ... well ... rather shallow thinking at best. Ones credit rating has [virtually] nothing to do with your driving ability at all. It DOES however, have everything to do with MONEY. The insurance industry merely figured out a way to legally use ones credit score to charge higher premiums for the coverage they offer. ALL my scores are VERY high, but I've never received an offer to DISCOUNT my car insurance premium. lol This concept revolves around the preposterous theory that ones score determines their propensity to file claims. The industry also claims to be able to actuarially prove this theory. Isn't it interesting that they will NOT divulge their "research" under "work product confidentiality" laws. JUST FOLLOW THE MONEY GANG! .
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Auto Insuranc with no Credit Check? And how long did it take you to figure this out? Of course insurers are after money. They are also interested in reducing the risk of losing money. This is America, and America is built upon capitalism. Insurers aren't charities, and they are going to do anything they can to make the bottom line look better. The sooner you realize that, the sooner you'll stop banging your head against the wall.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Auto Insuranc with no Credit Check? A troll, is a troll, is a troll. In this case, George and Butch are both correct. So why is it you are constantly provoking George?
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Auto Insuranc with no Credit Check? How much do they really look at it, though? My scores are OK, but when I switched from Progressive to State Farm, I was sitting with the State Farm agent and saw her run my credit, but she barely looked at it....of course, she's not the underwriter. The premiums I pay were less than what the others (Geikco, Allstate, etc) quoted, so maybe State Farm puts less weight on it? I've never had a ticket or an accident, knock wood...but I do have an unpaid charge-off. All I know is that every aspect of MY LIFE is based on credit...my employer ran a credit report on me when I was hired (I do use a corporate card for work, but I don't handle money or anything), my insurance company did, the bank does, hell, I think my doctor even requires a 700 Fico to see me. My point is, to quote Bob Seger, "I feel like a number..."
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Auto Insuranc with no Credit Check? I pay in FULL before coverage starts...I DON'T WANT THEM LOOKING AT MY CREDIT REPORT EVEN FOR THE SCORE...OR TO SEE IF I HAVE ANY "BADDIES"
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Auto Insuranc with no Credit Check? Please explain how they are correct? George has a narrow view of the world. If he doesn't agree with something, he ignores it or ridicules it. He's powerless to make change in his world, so he throws his powerless opinion around instead. It's a fact that credit plays a role in insurance underwriting. You cannot disupte that, can you? So, since it plays a role in insurance underwriting, we have a couple of choices. Get insurance and deal with the reality of the role that our credit plays in the decision making process. Or, write to our legislators in hopes of geting the laws changed. I am willing to bet that no one who comments here has lifted a finger to try to change the insurance laws. Until one of us does, we have no right to complain about the problem. If we are not working to correct it, we are condoning it. Posting complaints about it here does nothing but allow the problem to fester.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Auto Insuranc with no Credit Check? Same here. How I manage my life outside of how I drive my car is NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS.
