Hi, Does anyone have an auto insurance company they could recommend. I just insured my Jeep with my old agency (state farm) and it's going to cost me $1800 yr......OUCH My driving record is perfect, just one fender bender a year ago nothing else. Thanks in advance, Sal
I have State Farm and they do good by me with the premium vs. the independent companies. Progressive's online system will cost you an Inquiry so watch out. A freind has Geico and swears by them.
I went to an insurance broker and found a better rate that was about 2/3's of the prior rate I was paying. Brokers aren't unbiased, and you might be able to get a better deal if you do all the legwork yourself. For me, it was worth it. I don't have a week free to call all these companies and compare prices. I wonder if any of these web based brokers such a QuoteSmith and others are good? Give 'em a shot. Go to Google and enter "Auto Insurance Quotes" and see what comes up.
I went with erie insurance. We had horrible(low 400s) at the time and they never pulled. It has bene like 2 years though but they are not expensive one bit.
What state? Are you over 25? Jeeps have bad statistics for fatalities - they are very expensive to insure. Short wheelbase, high center of gravity - they roll very easily. LOL, we had a class today on insuring hummers.
It definitely pays to shop around. I have Allstate for my renter's insurance - I had a hard time finding one that would insure a home daycare for cheap. Anyway, I figured that I would be able to get a good deal with my auto there as well. But when I called around, I was able to get cheaper rates through AAA. Good luck!
Way more expensive than a jeep. And you can't get towing on your policy, hahahahaha!!! Oh, and no converted humvees accepted. Just regular hummers.
Picantel is right, Erie is the way to go. Great customer service, very low rates and no inquiry. I highly recommend them. Only USAA is better but you have to meet certain military requirements.
Thanks for the info about erie - I checked them out but unfortunately they don't cover California. I examined Progressive as well but they're rate is only $25 less per year then what I'm aleady paying. -Sal
Ahhhhh, California! That's the problem. Prop 103. The voters decided that people who fall into a certain category should get the insurance companies best rates. Since the losses (claims) are sky high in that group, the insurance companies raised their rates. Now everyone gets a high rate, because their best rates are no longer low.
