This may be a little bit off topic for here, so please forgive me. I am in desperate need of auto insurance. I prefer a company that does not do a credit check but right now what is most important is that it be dirt cheap. I have heard that there are some super cheap companies out there but I canâ??t find them. Please help.
Tyr Dairyland. Not cheap but the cheapest option for me. Rates depend on a few things but no credit check. I was a newbie to the state when I got it. Was with another established insurance co. all of my driving life with family and then when on my own. But when I moved to a state with high rates of drunk driving (some may know right away which I mean) and a high uninsured driver rate I had to pay a lot more for full coverage so I only pay liability now. But the rates go down a little each month and discounts for more than one month of payment at a time and after a year or two (not sure) of consistent payments one qualifes for one of the 'bigger' companies. Funny, I didn't even know that credit checks were done with some companies until I moved to the state I live in now. Even Geico, I found out, checks credit. Anyway, what I am telling you is based on my experience. If anything has changed re: the rules for new members of Dairyland please post updates and ammedments here
A few people have said STATE FARM does not pull... GEICO won't pull...IF YOU SAY "DON'T PULL" AT THE GET-GO I don't have either...so I have NO IDEA IF THEY ARE CHEAP...
I figured Geico was a snake Look all that money they spend on advertising. Somebody has to pay for it. Thank goodness Progressive reduced my rate when I threatend to switch to Geico.
Also check out Kemper Insurance and run a search on www.fatwallet.com. You will find a long thread which discusses the best and worst of the cheapest car insurance there including Kemper.
Why do you say this? Do you see inquiries on your reports? Or is it because you assumed that the rate increases are due to credit pulls? I work for G, and I can tell you for sure, they do not pull credit at renewal. I believe they do reserve the right to do that in NY state only, but at the present time, they do not exercise that right. They do pull when you initially apply, but not in every state, and if you tell them up front that you do not want credit used, they will rate you without it. They will, however, re-rate you using credit if you request it. This comes in handy if you have managed to get derogs off your reports.
What is the company name that you see on your inquiries? Our internal documents say that we do not use credit for renewal. I'm really curious about this.
I have been trying for years to getter a better rate than i'm paying geico. Guess it's pretty hard to beat $500 a year for 5 cars.
