does anyone have an answer to this question?

when a consumer visits a car dealer and applies for a loan , obviously your credit is pulled and the finance dept then submits your info to various banks for credit approval.

what info is the dealer required to maintain on file and for how long?

The info you give them will or should be there for 2 years..If you are worried about alot of dings on your report.Dont be to worried.. Inquiries remain on your report for 2 years.. Auto loans that made with in a specified time period will only count as one mark.Same with Mortgages..I think 2 week time frame is right..Its set up that way due to Most people shopping around for the best rates and deals.
