Auto loan information.

    Hello,

    1. When applying for an auto loan does the dealer only look at your score, or do they pull an actual report?

    2. Is it standard to pull from only one CRA or all three?

    3. What is the score range for 0% apr(or the best going rate)?

    4. I have read that the privacy guard scores are not true FICO scores, can I get my "real" FICO at the CRA websites or someplace else?

    Thanks,
    Crile

They pull your actual report usually. Some are score driven only, others are driven by different factors. You can always call the dealer you want to buy from and ask the finance director.

Again it depends, GMAC and Ford only pulled EQ on us.

I haven't heard a definite number, but 700+ seems to be what I have read most. BTW we got 4.9 with Ford and scores in the mid 500's. (Good auto history)

That's what I've heard. I think its myfico.com for EQ fico, TU you can order it from their site (its the 12.95 report), and the only way to get EX is for a company to pull it.

    0.00% is 700+ maybe even 750+

If you go to a small town where they have one dealer...but they only sell 50 cars a year to residents because they only have like 3,000 residents...THEY RELY ON OTHER NEIGHBOR CITY TRAFFIC AND WOULD MOST LIKELY BE WILLING TO DEAL NOT ONLY ON SCORE, BUT ON CAR PRICE...

    YMMV

ACCORDING TO THE EXPERT...THIS INFORMATION DOES NOT APPLY TO NYC WHERE YOU HAVE TO APPLY TO TAKE A TEST DRIVE~~~

Actually, I live in a town with <3000 residents, and found the opposite to be true. The big dealerships have more "pull" with the finance companies because of their volume, and can get courtesy interest rates much easier. (of course I didn't have good scores - it probably is true for those in the 700+ range.)

    YMMV

LOL George, we are talking a bit about apples and oranges.

Sure the small dealerships will advertise the 0% etc., and will pass it along if qualifications are met. But for those with less than perfect credit, I would swear by a large dealership in a metropolitan area.

As an ex - when we were phone shopping, a local dealership didn't even have access to subprime lenders. If I wanted to wait a month though they were working on it!

Toyota Financial insists on 660 as a starting point for special rates, such as 0.0 and 1.9.

    Chipper,

    Quick question.

How would Toyota treat a perfect (but skinny) report?

750 - 780 score with NO auto history?

    ???

You should have no problems at all. Toyota uses a tier system. Scores that high are tier one. They really stick to the beacon score and not how long you've had credit.
