Do I have to use manufactures rebates towards the purchase of my new car, or can I choose to take the cahs back? The reason I ask is that I would like to take my hypothetical $2500 rebate and use it to pay of a 20% credit card. In effect I have done a balance transfer, the $2500 would be in my auto loan at 5% instead of my visa at 20%. Is it possible? Do some/all finance companies/banks make you use the rebate towards the purchase? What about with CapOne auto finance? What about the manufactures finance companies?
"IF" they are willing to send you a check in the mail...IT WOULD WORK. They usually like to PUT IT AS A DOWN PAYMENT (so people have said)
finnaly something i know something about.... yes you can have your rebate....manufacturer will send out the goody check...but....as a percentage of down its usuless in most cases..most sub primes dont consider a rebate part when considering dp or consider it at a partial percentage of the real percentage it reflects(if that makes sense) if ya have the cash to make a down..then use it for the cc and lower that monthly payment on the car? edit: the sales contract is the final word..how it is written determines what happens to the rebate...most f&i automaticlly write in use rebate towards purchase.
