The subject of "spousal abuse" of credit has an interesting sideline. CC companies who look at CRA's with good, paid as agreed joint accounts will send pre-approved cards to the husband, not to the wife. Many cases, especially in older couples lately, of a retired husband running up big bucks on cc's his working wife never knew he had, then taking individual bk.

Well that explains it, I know how expensive the that area can be, I have family there ( I live in NJ)

I know the interest deduction comes in handy around tax time, thats the one dissappointing thing about our 90K home, around tax time, it will stink, will probably only have a little over 3000 to deduct next year and we will be married by then and planned to file jointly....but such is life.....

My FH always says spend the money while we have it, do whatever makes you happy because you will have the memories....no point of dying with a ton of money!

I stopped using all my cards about 8 months ago and for the past 6 months I've been sending in about 45% of my take-home pay to debt.

Since October I've reduced my total credit card debt from 15K to 11.6K balance. My student loan is currently at about 8.6K balance.

About 2 years ago my debt load peaked at about $29K (credit cards and student loans), and at the time I was only making 24K.

Discover gets paid off next month!

....but there'll be trailing interest the month after(DOH!)

Amen! Can you say "control freaks"?

This does nothing to dispel the stereotype of the shopaholic hausfrau.
