Re: Re: Re: Re: Why Avoid Capital One? ADD THIS---->PLEASE DO NOT TELL ME TO CALL THE CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER--HAD I WANTED TO DO THAT...I ALREADY WOULD HAVE
Re: Re: Re: Re: Why Avoid Capital One? FOR SOME STUPID REASON...some credit card companies are AFRAID of E-MAIL---AND THINK YOU SHOULD BE TOO!!!
Re: Re: Re: Re: Why Avoid Capital One? George, the email telling me this was automated, it came back about 15 seconds after I sent the PFB. I was reading through my email when it hit.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Why Avoid Capital One? A company as big as Cap 1 removing itself from the very effective PFB process is a big minus in my book. That is a serious loss of leverage.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Why Avoid Capital One? I ALWAYS got an E-MAIL from PFB (COPY OF LETTER) then an E-MAIL about they will respond SOON...(I THINK)--I'm NOT going to look at all the old E-MAIL to find out...
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Why Avoid Capit my instant E-Mail was followed up the next business day with a phone call from Amanda Mays???? PFB worked for me last week,
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Why Avoid Capital One? George, nothing has been officially announced, but I did ask the executive offices if they cut themselves off from PFB. They didn't deny it. I figure those are the folks that would know more about it that the CS reps.
Re: Re: Why Avoid Capital One? No-hassle requirement for sub-prime conversion, is at least one platinum line with 5K+ CL, according to a CSR I talked to. That's how I got it, and they didn't even pull an inq (IIRC - or maybe a soft, but no hards). If you've got several sub-5000 CL non-platinum cards, you can combine them all together - then go for the platinum. After that, go for the "no-hassle" - or maybe you can do both at once. I've had very informative conversations with Cap1 CSRs (I've also had some not so informative, but if that happens I just say "thanks anyway" and call back, or ask to get transferred to a manager) At first I would ask peripheral questions, but then I finally just said "hey this is my ultimate goal" and he told me exactly how to do it (how long I had to wait to up the CLs, then how to combine, change to no-hassle).
Re: Re: Why Avoid Capital One? Thanks. This is exactly what I was looking for. I have one toy plat at 4500 and one gold at 5000 I was going to combine and ask for the no-hassle card and an interest rate drop. Since the gold 5k is my oldest, can I combine my toy plat with my gold and then get no-hassle? Or do you have to move the gold to the toy plat and then request no-hassle? Or does it matter?
Re: Re: Re: Why Avoid Capital One? KEEP THE OLDEST CARD... I don't know if they will let you TRADE after that for a NO-HASSLE card...YOU MAY HAVE TO APPLY FOR IT... NO-HASSLE is no big deal...you can send an E-MAIL or call on the phone to be put on the DO NOT CALL LIST...may take 90 days...but you won't get any phone calls... NO-HASSLE IS LIKE ANY OTHER NAME LIKE--CLASSIC--SILVER--GOLD--PLATINUM--TITANIUM--DIAMOND--ALUMINUM THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS ARE...INTEREST RATE AND CREDIT LIMIT--NOT A STUPID NAME!!!
Re: Re: Re: Avoid Capital One ! LOL, my Crap 1 limit was $500, high balance is $489; but Providian's limit is a weird $2008, so my Crap 1 "limit" is just $3 short of what it really is... Thanks Providian BTW, I felt grateful that Cap 1 would extend credit to me after some problems in the past, but they really do try to keep people down who are trying to rebuild their credit. I agree with whoever said they are good for getting your scores up to help qualify for prime cards; but once you do qualify for the better cards, get rid of Cap 1. They are more of a nuisance at that point, JMO.
Re: Re: Why Avoid Capital One? BT---I don't do the BUY AND RETURN DEAL... BT 100% of credit limit -$100 or -$200 A few days after the statement generated...I made a payment of $900.00+
Re: Re: Got a Cap One Hey George, I just got a cap one should I charge it too my limit $300 an then immediately send a payment in. Or do I charge and wait 1 full statement and then pay if off.
Re: Re: Re: Got a Cap One Wait 4 or 5 days past the statement date...THEN make a payment...YOU CAN PAY ON-LINE...same day posting if made before 3 pm EASTERN I think... Just make 100% sure that you don't go even $0.01 over!!! You might want to give it some breathing room...LIKE $25.00 $300 is not much to work with...
Re: Re: Re: Got a Cap One I think this thread really explains Cap One if you do not know much about them. The good and the bad are both posted here. I know this thread has shown the positives and the negatives towards Cap One. If I were a guest, a newbie, or a vet I would pretty much understand how Cap One really works or how to work it. Both sides really show their true colors towards Cap One. I think this is one of the best threads here on Creditnet on a major issuer.
Re: Re: Re: Got a Cap One I just realized Cap one pulled 3 hard inquires for that 300 limit. That sucks.
