Quite by accident I found out that if you pay double your payment or more on you discover card, then you have no payment due the next payment periord. If you continue to make payments, it doesn't matter when the payment arrives and you will not be charged a late fee for being late. Visa and Mastercard don't care how much your payment is, if you're a day or two late (by there calculations) you are still charged a late fee.

If you make large payments, you will get plenty of "payment holidays", this also helps avoid late fees, however, interest continues to accumulate on the unpaid balance.
