    Hi guys!!!

    I got this Amex Blue you're Pre-Approved mail today....

    GUARANTEED APR...
    0% introductory APR for 6 months
    low 9.99% fixed APR on purchases
    9.99% fixed APR on balance transfers for the life of the balance. *

    Currently have had with Amex....

    Amex LOC---> open 10/01
    Amex Gold Charge---> open 10/01
    Amex Platinum Cash Rebate---> open 11/01
    Amex Secured Optima---> open 08/00

    Do you folks think I'll be approved for ANOTHER CARD with Amex or just close the Secured Card first, then, apply for Blue at a later date?

    Any comments will be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Herman

    AMEX HATES ME!!!

    So called "PRE-APPROVED" from AMEX is supposidely CLOSER to a "DONE DEAL"...but NOT 100%...

    ALL YOU HAVE TO LOSE IS AN INQUIRY...which you can make DISAPPEAR by disputing it.

    I accepted on-line the AMEX "PRE-APPROVED" CASH BACK PLATINUM...BUT was DENIED...

    Securred doesn't help you unless it reports, and it is your oldest.

    My dad got one of the Blue pre-approved offers, and he was approved.

    I would think you have a good chance... but what do I know :)

    Go for it, Herman. The Blue is an excellent product. Even if you don't need it, use the new limit as a credit increase to your Cash Rebate card when you combine the two.

    Once you get it, consider closing the secured Optima, or see if they let you convert it to an unsecured card (which could mean, by combination, another credit increase).

    Thanks Saar,

    Excellent strategy! I'll do exactly just that.
    Again, thanks to your brilliant analysis:)

    I have a 15k optima and applied for blue. They only gave me a 5k on the blue stating that they took the existing optima into consideration when setting the line on the blue.

    So I applied for blue for business and got another 20K blue.

    Have to agree with Saar. Blue is an excellent card.

    Thanks Big beacon,

    I'm waiting for Citi to report the Dividend Card to EFX, I sense positively Amex may pull from them. Hopefully, then, my limits will be match.
